White Lotus and You Star Lukas Gage Shares His Workout

preview for Train Like Lukas Gage | Men's Health

LUKAS GAGE HAS launched himself onto the prestige TV scene—or you could say he backed his way into it.

This self-proclaimed “former chubby child” says he had a goal to make it in Hollywood, and he’s done just that. Past standout roles in HBO’s Euphoria and The White Lotus have pushed him into the spotlight. Now, with a new role in Netflix’s You, Gage is showing that he’s here to stay.

The actor is willing to put the work in to keep (and build up) the type of physique that will complement his roles. At the moment, that means staying lean—and building his butt, which was mortifying for Gage to share in that scene on The White Lotus. When portraying the narcissistic socialite Adam, Lady Pheobe’s boyfriend in You, that meant building a six-pack, even though the character probably would’ve maintained his appearance (which Gage describes as “snatched”) in less-than healthy ways. Soon, he’s heading to Canada to film for HBO’s new superhero series, Dead Boy Detectives, where he’ll play villain, the Cat King, so he’s sticking on the slender side.

“We’re going for a long, lean summer body,” says Gage. “We’re trying to get shredded, but we’re not trying to get too big.”

He does hat by mixing up his cardio. Zach Powell, his trainer, is no fan of running, so mixes in different elements that gets Gage’s heart rate up but won’t bore him. Gage and Powell opened up a training session at the DogPound in Los Angeles to show the MH crew how they keep him in shape—just in case another nude scene is around the corner. “You better bet the next time I’m showing my ass, it’s gonna be plump,” Gage says.
